When did Disney begin Very Merry Cruise?

The term has been used for only a few years, but the decorations and the activities have been there for MANY years (as in 10+), with minimal changes. There have been decorations, characters in costumes, the big gingerbread house, storybook reading, etc. at least since 2000, and I THINK since 1999 when we did our first December Magic sailing. Admittedly, the big gingerbread house has grown and a few additional activities have appeared on the schedule.
