gatlinburg Posted May 8, 2017 #27 Share Posted May 8, 2017 If you go onto FLICKR you can see our 400+ photos from our Cuba/Costa Maya Trip from April 19th. You'll love your room choices. Nice and quiet, and easy access to pool deck on 10, and just a jump downstairs to Bolero's. If you are traveling with any children it is perfect location for "Adventure Ocean" kids club room. https://www.flickr.com/photos/154157486@N07 Following as we booked 9164 and 9664 for November as part of a larger group. cleophus12 Posted May 20, 2017 #28 Share Posted May 20, 2017 My concern on 9164 and 9964 is proximity to Windjammer. They are not directly under it or effected by noise from up there?

krise88 Posted June 23, 2017 #36 Share Posted June 23, 2017 (edited) Anyone have any info on 7010. It seems to be the last remaining ocean view cabin (thats not a "small") of the sailing date we want... It says some rooms are deck 7 are obstructed. Anyone know if/how obstructed it is? Waterworld11 Posted June 23, 2017 #37 Share Posted June 23, 2017 I was very fortunate to be upgraded to an owner's suite cabin# 8186 at the back of the ship this past Feb./17 Absolutely wonderful, 2 balconies, very large bathroom. I didn't realize how lucky I was until I found out there were 1700 college students on board for their break! NO noise from the hallway! Best room ever! krise88 Posted June 24, 2017 #39 Share Posted June 24, 2017 EDIT: We ended up booking a different room, we waited too long and it was gone. We called and got 4600, that should be okay it looks like? Not a port hole right?

Marilyn Marilyn - we have this cabin booked for August. Is the regular bed able to be separated? Do you have any pictures? Did you get much soot on the balcony? Thanks - Virginia
Waterworld11 Posted June 26, 2017 #41 Share Posted June 26, 2017 Hi Virginia: I was travelling alone, so I don't know if the bed was able to be separated! Yes, there was soot on the lounge chairs, but the cabin steward cleaned them off each day. There is one Jr. suite beside you, that's all. If you wouldn't mind sending me your e-mail address to jcaise@rogers.com I will send you the pictures! Marilyn
Waterworld11 Posted June 29, 2017 #42 Share Posted June 29, 2017 Virginia: I hope the pictures gave you an inkling as to the size of the Cabin 8186. What trip are you going on in August on the Empress? She was the first cruise I had in 1992, she seemed so large at the time, compared to The Oasis class available now. Enjoy your time on the ship! CRUISINGCPA Posted June 30, 2017 #43 Share Posted June 30, 2017 Marilyn-Pictures were great, thanks. We're doing the 4 night Key West-Havana route and are so excited. My first cruise was on one of the NCL S-wards (sea? Star?) in the eighties. I am hoping Empress brings back a little of that flavor so my kids can understand why I am a cruise nut! This is our first Owner's Suite so let me know if there's any secrets we need to know. Virginia
Waterworld11 Posted June 30, 2017 #44 Share Posted June 30, 2017 Virginia: Even though there are no formal nights on board, there is a very good chance you will be invited to the Captain's table with being in an Owner's suite. Lots of goodies delivered, fruit basket, canapés, chocolate covered strawberries! The Captain's name was Diego Lombardic from Croatia, very nice person! You will receive priority check-in, also expedited luggage delivery! Now, just thinking about it, I would like to book the Empress for next year. Canadians have always had access to Cuba. Hoping the changes for the U.S. Citizens don't through a monkey wrench into everyone's travels! Enjoy your trip! Marilyn
CRUISINGCPA Posted July 4, 2017 #45 Share Posted July 4, 2017 Marilyn-good to know, thanks. We've never been invited to the Captain's table, I always figured it was because they didn't want kids there. Now that my youngest is 21...would be so cool. I saw in another post that OS get 3 free drinks/day. We are D+ but DD's boyfriend isn't, so it would be great if her could get that perk too. Can you confirm this? Is it just the 5-8:30 time frame or all day? OP-sorry to hijack your post! Virginia
Waterworld11 Posted July 5, 2017 #46 Share Posted July 5, 2017 Virginia: On the Oasis class, Royal Suites the "Star" tier sailings get the complimentry deluxe bar package, but on the Empress No. Yes, drinks are served in the bars between 5:00-8:30 with 3 loaded onto your card everyday. There is no conceirge or diamond lounge on the Empress. I would head up to the Viking crown lounge Before dinner and show them my card. You might get a bottle of wine in your room which you can take to dinner one night or open in your room and enjoy! Hope this helps! Marilyn. Hope you had a great 4th of July! FOXTROT Posted July 5, 2017 #47 Share Posted July 5, 2017 You can also use those drinks in the dining room.
Waterworld11 Posted August 20, 2017 #48 Share Posted August 20, 2017 CRUISINGCPA: please let me know how you liked your cruise! Especially if you weren't to cramped in the Owner's suite! Marilyn
dagunny Posted August 20, 2017 #49 Share Posted August 20, 2017 The best thing about the forward Owners Suite is the front facing balcony. We have been in 7506 twice and the Royal Suite once. RS has a bar and dining room table, large TV. OS is equivalent to a JS on any other RCCL ship. It is tight compared to other JS, GS and above. But the balcony is the best part. If you are Diamond Plus there are no benefits other than embarking first or debarking first. If you are Pinnacle there are no additional benefits. But, hey, what a sight from the balcony. Sail in to Cuba. Awesome. Check CC for my reviews and pictures. Been on Empress 8 times and really like the ship especially for the no smoking indoors including the casino.
