Any freebies that you know about?

Recommended Posts

Just thought it might be fun to share any freebies that you know about. I'll go first.

Places to get free drinks - art auction & captains party on some ships. Some of the jewelry stores in the Caribbean.

Free self serve laundry on NCL Dawn.

NCL Dawn's paid coffee shop gives the desserts in the case for free.

I'll add more as I think of them.

Anyone else have any freebies to share?

Some lines offer free playing cards and post cards of the ship at the purser's desk. The casinos will usually give you a lanyard if you ask. Champagne is served at the art auctions, as well as a complimentary art print. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres are served complimentary at the Captain's party. Ship's logo corkscrew can usually be obtained by your cabin steward. Steward will also replenish your amenity basket if you ask. I have found that all lines do not offer comps, but most do. Can't hurt to ask.:)

Hmmm - didn't know those 2. Thanks.

I thought of another one, NCL website says, "Dramamine, Meclazine, Alka-Seltzer and aspirin are available free at the Purser's Desk."

Oops...ignorance is about to show...what exactly is a lanyard???

Lol - not a word we hear every day is it? It's those "necklace" type badge/card holders.

RC and Celebrity sponsor CC meetings on board. Free hors d'oeuvres at those.

If your ship has a Returning Cruisers meeting (loyalty club), those usually have free champagne and hors d'oeuvres.

Specialty drinks come with "free" glasses. Before you collect a complete set, remember that you will need to find a way to pack them.

Just a quick note...lanyards are also available in a belt clip style, with a retractable cord, in case you don't want to wear your ID around your neck. I found both styles at Walmart for 97 cents apiece.

If you don't care about the "free" glasses, ask for the specialty drink in a plain glass. It will cost even less.

on our last Sun Princess cruise 2 weeks ago, there were no meds being given out; the person I spoke to said something about a lawsuit situation with giving out meds to passengers. In the past I know NCL freely gave out seasickness pills etc.

Join the loyalty club for cruiselines from your previous cruises. At the very least, you'll get a magazine with coupons for $ off future cruises on that line.

Some cruise lines give gifts (tote bags, coupons for ship's stores, etc.) to returning cruisers, and if you have enough cruises, you can get some of the same amenities as those who booked suites.

Silly us.......we thought ALL lines give meclazine free at the Purser's desk because HAL does.

Thanks for the info regarding free corkscrews .....didn't even think of that!:)

--------Kay, that's exactly why I take anything I think I might need...Bonine, Tylenol, etc. Everything in the ship's sundries shop is very, very expensive.

Thanks for the info regarding free corkscrews .....didn't even think of that!:)

--------You're quite welcome. I don't know if all lines do that, but I have several logo corkscrews from my cruises. Just ask.

Hi, we always take our own sea sick tablets, but you can get them for much less in the pharmacy, Mecalzine is the same exact thing as Bonine. In a Bonine package you get may be 8 tablets for $6 or $8 dollars. You just go to the pharmacist and ask for over the counter generic bonine which is Mecalzine and you get probably 100 tablets for about $7 or $8 dollars, much more cost effective. And it works great , no seasickness, no drowsyness.

Just ask your local pharmacist.( can't get it at walmart)

Actually on Carnival this isn't exactly correct. The first drink bought with a specialty glass is about $3 more than the "small" drink without the glass. But refills are only about $2 more than the small, and you get twice the drink. For instance, the drink fo the day special is $2.95 for a small in a plain glass, and $6.25 for a large in a specialty glass. The refills on the specialty glass, though, are just $4.95. So if you drink enough, you save money. :D

On the Carnival Fantasy this past February, my mom's knee really started bothering her on the way to get off the ship at Nassau. I stopped into the infirmery and picked up a free pack of tylenol for her that helped her alot. But the first night on the ship it was very very wavy, and they said they ran out of seasick meds everywhere on the ship! So I am bringing my own just to be safe next time.

I am leaving on the Sovereign of the Seas on November 7, Please give info on any Freebies I can look for there. This is my first cruise and I want to get all I can get out of it.

I usually cruise on Princess but tried the Sovereign of the Seas last week for a 4-day cruise. I received a free tote bag on the bed. If you participate in healthy activites, they give you points towards cruise logo gifts (keychain, lanyard, T-shirt, etc.) to buy the last day. Activities include the promonade walk as a group. I got 2 points for playing the ring toss poolside one seaday. Participate in Quest to have a chance to win free gifts. Champaign at the Captain's part in the lounge and at one of the Art auctions. Free chocolate on your pillow. It you buy coffee at the Seattle's best shop, it includes a free dessert; (because you cannot get enough at the buffet?).
