Has celebrity followed the RCCL no liquor back to room policy?

On both of our cruises, had we wished we could take liquor purchased back to our room for a $9.50 charge or it could be held until the end of the cruise. I understand that RCCL has done away with allowing purchased libations to be brought back to your cabin. Any recent X cruises know if Celebrity has implemented this policy?

On our two most recent cruises on Celebrity they did not allow one to buy duty free to be brought back to one room. If you purchased duty free it was packaged and held until your last night aboard and delivered at that time.

I know that many who had purchased booze aboard were also required to relinquish their purchases until final night. I know of others who were able to smuggle it back aboard. We purchased a 6 pack at one port and brought it back with not a as much as a winch.

We've been cruising with Celebrity since before it was Celebrity (Chandris) and, to my knowledge, they have never had the "pay a premium and take it back to your cabin" policy. Sometimes, if the store is empty and you have made friends with the manager, you will be able to take a bottle back to the cabin, but that is rare. It's only happened to us once.

While their stated policy is "hold until the last night of the cruise" for hard liquor, I was told by Guest Relations on the Summit this September that beer and wine are not subject to those rules. We tested that rule, and had no problems whatsoever.

Char,

I'm with you, this happened once on my ten cruises. I wasn't expecting in, but it made our first port of call interesting. Try to find a cheap 12 pack of Coke in Ft Lauderdale. Man, we paid $8 for a 12 pack. Did it same me $$$ on drinks on the cruise, no. I just drank more.
