Car Hire shuttles to Port Everglades ???????

Can anyone tell me which Car Hire companies have a transfer / shuttle from their Fort Lauderdale depot to Port Everglades cruise port

 

I cant get any sense out of any of them

Hertz has a free shuttle from the rental facility for Fort Lauderdale airport to the piers in Port Everglades. The shuttles start to run at about 11:00 AM and then every 20 minutes thereafter.

In January we rented a car from Hertz for the free shuttle to the pier. I have rented a car every time we went to Fort Lauderdale from Hertz for this purpose (8 times). However, this time it was a huge mess.

 

The rental car facilty had just changed in Fort Lauderdale. All of the car rental agancies are now in one large location. We took a bus with many other people (for all car companies) to this new facilty. Once we found Hertz, we were told that we had to drop the car off at another location for the pier transfer. It was a huge mess.

 

Once we got to the other location, there were at least 20 other people waiting for the free transfer to the pier. After about 30 minutes a van showed up for all of us. There was no way we could all get in. After waiting another 15 minutes or so, I called for a cab and took it to the pier.

 

This was the first weekend that the new facility was open, so maybe thier procedure is different now.

 

We are going to Fort Lauderdale in January 2006 on the Infinity. Unless there have been major changes, we are taking a taxi.

A taxi can get you from the airport to the port for about $10-15. No need to hire a car and driver.

 

Regard the car rental companies, it's not matter of just one car company. With the new parking garage and car rental location, the airport has shuttles running from the termianl to the car rental garage and from the car rental garage to Port Everglades
