Trend Posted January 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Is there any shop in Philipsberg that can compete with the great French one in Marigot. We were going to Divi beach this time and back to time as we were just there this past summer doing the entire island.
brookeq Posted January 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2016 La Sucriere is on the same side as little divi bay but is past it.
gtaylor Posted January 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2016 La Sucriere is on the same side as little divi bay but is past it. La Sucriere is, indeed, on the same side of the island, but Divi Little Bay is probably 2 1/2 miles from the Cruise Facility, and La Sucriere is probably 5 miles, well past Divi. We like La Sucriere, but that's quite an extra trip. There is a bakery right in Philipsburg that we visit, usually just for Baguettes, but they have some nice pastries there, as well, if you visit early. It's Carl & Sons, located on Pondfill Road. Your taxi to Divi may well pass the shop both going and returning. gary
Trend Posted January 12, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted January 12, 2016 It is a treat we look forward to but not the drive just for that so we will plan. Maybe the driver can go past the Divi to the shop wait while we pick up some treats and then drop us off or try the other one in town.

gtaylor Posted January 13, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2016 I'm certain that they are referring to Sarafina, in Marigot. gary

erniesband Posted January 13, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Do not make the mistake we saw some unfortunate lady make. She bought out the entire bakery and tried to bring all the pastries back to her ship. They would not let her bring them on board so she sat out on the dock giving them away. great for all the passengers getting free pastries not so much for the poor lady.
Karysa Posted January 13, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 13, 2016 We didn't get away with walking on with pastries and bread but saw a crew member put his in a backpack and he got through no problem.
gtaylor Posted January 14, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 14, 2016 I'm wondering how big a backpack one would need to fit in buying out the entire bakery????? :) gary

navybankerteacher Posted January 14, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 14, 2016 Not sure but the lady we saw had at least 12 full boxes :D I assume she was planning to give away a lot once on board - rather than eat it all herself before it went stale. kgmoran Posted January 15, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 15, 2016 I am curious. Why can't you bring pastries on board?
