Northbay Posted January 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Could someone please provide me with any information on the metro going from the Madrid Airport to the city centre so that we can get on a HOP ON HOP OFF bus, please, to do some sightseeing in Madrid? Thanks for your help. Liz
hkto Posted January 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2016 There are more than one option. HO-HO bus has 2 routes http://madrid.city-tour.com/en and assuming that you take red route the easiest way to connect to it is not by metro but by yellow 203 express airport bus to Plaza Cibeles. Using metro can go to Plaza Espana but there is transfer required so I'd go with bus. Cost is approximately the same.
MADflyer Posted January 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2016 If you are coming from Terminal 4 at Barajas Airport you can also take the Renfe Cercanias train to the central station of Recoletos that is near several stations on both bus lines for the HOHO. You can continue to the Atocha train station if you wanted to visit the Riena Sofia art museum prior to boarding the historic route. Madrid does now offer set fare taxis to/from any location in the city center to/from either airport terminal for just 30 euros each way for up to 4 passengers. The set fare is automatic and includes all bags and service charges and supplements. You could always use a taxi one way. This is not valid from airport hotels but must be taken to/from an airport terminal. From Terminal 2 the metro can be taken to Nuevos Ministeros station on the airport route 8. This allows transfer to a couple of lines that will get you to many of the stops on the 2 HOHO routes.
