Initiating an upsell?

Has anyone ever called and asked for an upsell? I didn't think it was possible, but heard that someone had called and upgraded to a suite for a minimum amount. We usually pick the cabin we want and leave it at that, but we are cruising in 2 weeks and the ship is sold out except for suites. Lots of them! The only time I've received an upsell call was under those same circumstances. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I did call for upsell once from OV to Balcony guarantee but it wasn't a true bargain, just decided I wanted a balcony.

 

Bottom line call and let them know you are interested, you may get lucky and the upsail fairy will answer the call. :rolleyes:

It never hurts to call Carnival and ask. When you call try not to deal with their front line reps because they may not have the authority to give you the upsell rate. Try to get in touch with the team/department that handles upsells. If you have a PVP they may be able to put you in contact with them as well.
