Best route to League City through Beaumont, Texas

We are cruising out of Galveston, but staying in League City the night before. We will be driving through Beaumont. It looks like I-10 to Highway 146 through Kemah is the most direct route. It will be on a Saturday, mid day probably by the time we get there. Is traffic horrible on 146? Is there a better way to go? We do not want toll roads. Thanks!

You should be ok mid day on a sat. Only traffic you will hit is in seabrook on 146

If you have time in your travels the Kemah boardwalk is a good destination. I live near Beaumont and we will drive the hour to go out there to eat dinner and walk around.

We went there on a Friday night last month before our cruise. I was very disappointed. None of the Midway games were open and only a few rides. Wasn't expecting that on a Friday night.

Thanks. The Kemah Boardwalk is one reason we are staying nearby in League City. I just checked the website and it does say rides are seasonal. The hours are longer on Saturday, so maybe more will be running. We are still looking forward to just walking around and having dinner there at least.

We ate at Bubba Gump's, don't laugh, wasn't my idea. It was a bit chilly, but I would have thought on a Friday night, there would have been more action.
