Our cruise will disembark in Venice.... Would like to know the best way to get from the cruise terminal to Marriott's " Boscolo Venezia Hotel" which is on the canal...

Just so you're not disappointed, it is on a canal but not "the" Grand Canal.

 

"Best" implies a value judgement and without knowing what is most important to you it's hard to be helpful.

 

For example, for some folks ease and convenience is more important than anything else, for them a private water boat transfer would be the answer. Others value economy and would be looking for less expensive options. What matters most to you?

Since we'll have a couple of larger pieces of luggage we would be looking for ease and convenience.

Well, the easiest way would probably be private water taxi - but it also would be the priciest way.

 

If you can get yourself to Piazzale Roma, you can pick up the vaporetto (4.2 or 5.2) and get off at M. dell'Orto stop. You'll actually see the back of the hotel's gardens from this stop (there's a red awning), but you'll need to walk around to the front - a very pleasant 5-minute walk. These 2 vaporetto lines are less popular than the main ones that go down the canal, so not as crowded.

It could be a 10 to 15 minute walk to the People Mover which takes you to Piazzale Roma. From the exit you turn left to get to the vaporettos, short walk.

 

You may want to post something on your roll call and see if anyone else is staying at the same hotel. Private water taxes run $100 and up. Good to be able to share.

Just for perspective I put in your starting and ending points in this water taxi reservation service (http://www.motoscafivenezia.it/eng/biglietto_1.php) and the cost came up as €85.
