CathSmith Posted January 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2016 Have booked here for two nights pre-cruise. Early March. Are there restaurants in the area? Will it be safe to walk to them (no car)? Is there a bit of shopping within walking distance ie. wine, snacks, etc.

Is there a bit of shopping within walking distance ie. wine, snacks, etc. If its the one I am thinking of, in Dania, I have stayed across the small street from it several times. The area seems safe enough, but then again I do not go out much after dark. The restaurants in the immediate area are fast food, but further away - 1/2 mile or so are a TGIF and Red Lobster, plus Dave & Busters. Shopping is Kmart and BJ's wholesale club, plus some smaller stores and Home Depot. These are across a very busy highway, so walk fast when crossing and use the crosswalks. alex-goportcanaveral Posted January 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2016 Booked there for my bachelor party. It was amazing, definitely a nice and safe location (from what I can remember :D ) They had happy hour and gave us complimentary beer and some food to snack on. Not too far from Las Olas or the port either. Clean hotel and great customer service.
runner15km Posted January 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2016 If it's the Hyatt near 17th street then that's a good location with two restaurant's within a 5 minute walk.
elycelynne Posted January 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2016 The property on 17th Street is a Hyatt Place -- Not a Hyatt House. The OP is most likely referring to the Dania Beach location.

Two years ago we stayed at the Springhill Suites in Dania Beach and they had a shuttle ($5) that took us to the plaza or mall that had the TGIF. You could always UBER wherever you need to go, if your hotel doesn't offer a shuttle. Maybe phone them and see what they offer in the way of local transportation.
