jerseygirl3 Posted October 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2005 If I'm not mistaken, I believe it's called Red Hook Terminal.

hillslife Posted October 9, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 9, 2005 If we are staying in Midtown Manhattan for a couple days pre-cruise, how far is Red Hook Terninal from there? And is taxi the best way to get there? Will they be able to hold 3 passengers and luggage? Thanks for the tips!!!:)

JohnLauben Posted October 9, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2005 Until things settle in a bit more, assume that taxi is the ONLY way to the RED HOOK terminal. The terminal is about 2 minutes from the toll plaza on the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel (nearer to the Statue of Liberty); however, it's something of a "you can't get there from here" situation, so assume a few traffic lights and turns can interfere with the trip. The return trip to Manhattan is a lot easier. The taxi fare (from mid-town Manhattan) should run about $20-25; heavy traffic will incur wait time charges. Taxis in NYC vary in size; 3 people is usually OK, but luggage can be limited. If you have a lot of luggage, weigh the cost of 2 taxis versus the cost of a local car service, which are better equipped to carry a larger load. (Check the internet for car services ... the hotels will usually suggest something that's way out of line, price-wise.)
