wdblake Posted February 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2016 My wife and I are both dieting for our Regal cruise. We have blown through all our cruise food porn (youtube, searching pictures, etc). We have heard the the Horizon court Bistro and Buffet have some outstanding yummies but it is hard to tell from some of the pictures what exactly being offered. I would like to hear about some of the offerings that blew you away and what they serve on theme nights.
Pam in CA Posted February 6, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2016 I've taken over 50 cruises on a number of different lines and have never gained weight... and sometimes lost weight. There are so many food options to choose from that are healthy and delicious. One person's "Yum!" is another's "Yuck!" but one thing I love about the Royal/Regal buffet are the several salad options. I love salads! You can get as much or as little meats (several choices) and decide whether you want sauces or gravy. At lunch, there's a sandwich bar in the Horizon Bistro and you can order a sandwich made any way you want. My favorite theme dinner in the buffet is Bavarian night with several different choices each of wursts, potatoes and mustards.
wdblake Posted February 6, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted February 6, 2016 Sounds yummy. Do they offer various lettuces or just the iceberg/ceasar route. Bavarian night sounds intriguing. Heard the offer schnitzel as well. Thanks for the pics!
iriemon Posted February 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2016 My favorite is the bakery section. I do a lot more walking than I do at home and have never gained more than a few pounds that I take off when I get home. It is vacation indulge! kendon Posted February 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2016 Sounds yummy. Do they offer various lettuces or just the iceberg/ceasar route. Bavarian night sounds intriguing. Heard the offer schnitzel as well. Thanks for the pics! Princess has a great salad bar with lettuce that is actually green...romaine and spring mix. It is very possible to eat well on the Regal. You won't be disappointed. We're on for the 3/6 cruise. I'm dieting too in prep for the cruise!
trystran72 Posted February 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2016 My favorite yums on the Regal were the peanut butter cup mousse cups in the IC and in the pastry shop they had a mini coconut cream pie with a big dark chocolate slab sticking out of it that was ridiculously good. Hope you enjoy all your dining options - i loved 99.9% of what I ate on that ship! :D
Brad1185 Posted February 7, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2016 Unfortunately I think those days of good quality food to look forward to on a cruise are long gone
5soccer9 Posted February 7, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 7, 2016 We are on the Regal in 3 weeks. I have been dieting for a few months and lots and lots of exercise. I hope to lose another 5 pounds and I am sure I will put it back on while on the cruise. Looks like a lot of good food and sweets to eat. Yummy.
