Soda package on the Star

If you purchase a soda package on the Star, how are sodas dispensed?

On RCI they give you a special mug with a chip in it that you can fill from self serve machines located throughout the ship.

On HAL they give you a special card that you must take to the bar and they give you paper cups full of soda.

How is it done on the Star?

You should also get a soda 'mug' (like you do on other cruise lines like Royal) that you can have them fill (and not just a regular cup).

Attached is a (small) photo of the mug and general info.

Mikki

Mikki . . . thanks for the photo, but it's too small to read. Do they have "do it yourself" machines around the ship to fill your mug, or must you present it to a bartender?

NO, I don't remember seeing any 'self serve' machines around the ship. I don't think the Star has the chip technology. I'm sure the bars could fill the sodas as well as the coffee place (Java Cafe, deck 7). But there was no generally available place such as in the buffet.

The photo says "show your sticker to the waiters to start filling your mug with a refreshing Pepsi beverage."

We don't like Pepsi so we didn't get the drink package but I saw the display of the soda package as well as the water package so I took photo of it (sorry, my photos are too big to post normally and when I resize them to the acceptable size and upload them they are too small! I'll figure it out eventually).

Side note, fresh squeezed juices (orange, cranberry, pineapple, or grapefruit) are an additional $3 a day. The juices were available at the bars and up in the Market Cafe (again, not a self service area).

Is coffee included or an extra cost?

Regular coffee is complimentary, speciality coffees are not included in any package (except for certain Central European customers in restaurants only with all-inclusive cruise package).

Are you certain? I was sure I saw a photo someone took in the Studio lounge on Breakaway and there was a self-serve fountain.

Yes, I'm pretty certain (as there are no chips like for example Royal or some theme parks have).

Here is Breakaway's Studio Lounge and only dispensers I see are water/juice besides the coffee machine and wine dispensers on another wall (image found via Google Image Search):

You will get a sticker on your card and you'll receive from the bartender a cup filled with ice and spritzed with soda from the fountain spigot.

Not quite correct. Most of the bars on the Star do not have fountains. Those that don't pour from small bottles or from cans, and will let you take the can or bottle away with you if you ask nicely.

Thanks for that update, Froggitt!

No probs. :)

The Sugarcane bar is cans and bottles, and the bar on level six (?) by the Art Gallery/Le Bistro (Gatsbys??) is also cans and bottles. I dont recall what OSheehans and Five o clock Somewhere bars do. Dont recall casino bar either.

Also no idea about the MDRs......but Cagneys and the Brazillian on deck 13 use Sugarcane, and Bistro and the Italian use Gatsbys.
