PamTroop179 Posted October 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2005 My travel docs just arrived! Trying to get everything finalized for 10/24 Sovereign of Seas departure. Do only the suites have refrigerators? Since the refurbishment have refrig. been added to all rooms? I have a no frills interior cabin. We are going budget. I am too cheap to pay the soda fee. I plan to bring my own and wonder if I will be able to keep it cold? Thanks for your help
KAYEF Posted October 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2005 Give the cruise line a call. I just discovered there's no refrig. in our HAL cabin and they will put one in for $2. a day.
sicsinohio Posted October 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2005 You can ask the cabin steward to remove the "mini-bar" items that were stocked in the fridge by RCCL. A little extra cash tip to the room steward up front will ensure you have a quickly emptied fridge to put your own sodas (or whatever) into. DH is a Diet Coke drinker and always brings a case on board. When I'm not drinking alcoholic umbrella drinks:p , I settle for the iced tea and lemonade, for which there is no extra charge. CruisinDawn Posted October 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2005 Even if you have one we have yet to have one that would really cool sodas. We like to order a bucket of beer once we board then the room steward keeps our bucket full of ice. Room has an ice bucket too but it's kinda small. Having both works perfect. Put cans in the beer bucket and use the ice from the normal ice bucket. Have a great time! BonVoyage Dawna
cruisegirl1 Posted October 9, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 9, 2005 Pamtroop179 No fridge in standard cabins (deck 2-8) on the Sovereign. (even after re-furb) The ice buckets they use are very small and will not hold more than one can. You can ask your room steward for a larger ice bucket or one of the buckets they use for the buckets of beer. Have fun Marci
true_grit Posted October 9, 2005 #6 Share Posted October 9, 2005 We also chose a budget inside cabin when we sailed on the Sovereign in December. There wasn't a fridge in our room. The mini-bar consisted of some sodas and bottled waters that were left on the desk. After the first day, the stateroom attendant put these items on top of the mirror to save space. Hopefully this has changed in the last few months. This was a great cruise! There's so much to do, you probably won't have time to think about lukewarm drinks ;)
redcat72 Posted October 9, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2005 The cabin we are staying in on the Granduer at the end of this month does not have a fridge. We are bringing an 8 can soft cooler to keep drinks cold in with the ice from the ice bucket.

peggyy Posted October 10, 2005 #9 Share Posted October 10, 2005 Fridges in balcony and above but I wouldn't eat a tuna sandwich left there overnight. They are not very cold.
Retired not Expired Posted October 10, 2005 #10 Share Posted October 10, 2005 The cabin we are staying in on the Granduer at the end of this month does not have a fridge. We are bringing an 8 can soft cooler to keep drinks cold in with the ice from the ice bucket. We will be on the Empress in January and it does not have fridges either. We will also bring a soft side cooler. All you have to do is ask the room steward to keep ice in it and they will.
hondar Posted October 10, 2005 #11 Share Posted October 10, 2005 We have a cooler on wheels which we always use as our carry-on (it fits under your seat on the plane), but fill it with jewelry, books, or whatever we want to have in a carry-on. Once we get on the ship we empty it and have the steward fill with ice. If you ask him to keep it filled he will refill it 2 times a day. Keeps our sodas cold all trip. We also bring back fresh cut fruit sometimes from the windjammer and keep in there for late nite snack.
