chipis Posted February 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) We're sailing on the Getaway on May 1, and we had already made a reservation for both shows; yesterday we received two e-mails (one for each show) saying that due to schedule changes the shows are cancelled. We called our cruise representative, and she said she had no idea about it, and proceeded to check her e-mail (?), then told us that she also received yesterday an e-mail saying that both shows are cancelled on that sailing, and I think she mentioned also other dates when shows were being cancelled as well; no more information was provided, nor what will be replacing them during that time. Does anybody know what is going on?, or if this is something that usually happens? This is the e-mail we received: Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for choosing Norwegian Cruise Line and Norwegian Getaway for your upcoming cruise vacation. Our records indicate that you have made reservations for LEGALLY BLONDE show on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 7:30 pm. We have made scheduling changes and would like to inform you that this show time is no longer available. Please go to http://www.ncl.com to book an alternative show time. Or you may visit Box Office team once on board. We're very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Sincerely, Norwegian Cruise Line Edited February 17, 2016 by chipis
Jenjer Posted February 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2016 The rumor is and I stress RUMOR, is they are switching Escapes shows with Getaways shows since they have canceled upcoming shows on Escape. Again rumor no inside knowledge. Just someone else idea since both ships have cancelled shows I really hope not because we have seen Legally blond and burn the floor already and are looking forward to some new shows. punkincc Posted February 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) The shows are not cancelled entirely for your sailing, only the time slot for the show you had booked. They may have moved the show time from 7:30 to 8:00 for your date, or perhaps even rejuggled the schedule and the show may be on a different day. At least that's the way I'm reading your email. "This show TIME is no longer available". "Go to NCL.com to book an alternative show TIME". They did not say "to book a new SHOW". It is fairly common for the ship to make adjustments to schedules for various reasons. You just need to rebook at a new time. I know the e-mail says otherwise, but that's why I called them for an explanation, and they told me those shows were actually cancelled. Mind you, the cruise consultant didn't really know about it, and maybe the misleading e-mail is the one she received from the company, but what she told us is that for our sailing, and for some other ones, the shows were cancelled, and she didn't know what was going to replace them. I would not take their word in anything. They are woefully uninformed. Have you gone to the NCL website to see if the show is still on the schedule and you can in fact rebook it at an alternate date or time? That would perhaps shed more light. I know NCL is not very good at written information, but your email does not say the show is no longer available, only that the time slot is not. Not too upset, since we saw both shows last year. Just wondering if something new will be coming though! Has anyone tried calling NCL and speaking to the actual department that handles show reservations? It may be that the new schedule is just not yet available and on the website. Making the assumption that these shows are completely gone seems a bit of a stretch from an email that simply says the show time you booked is no longer available, please go to the website and reschedule. But, communication has never been NCL's strong point. I do remember the same thing happened to us a couple years ago pre cruise on the Getaway. We had everything booked, got emails and had to do it all over again because they changed the show schedules. I don't know why they just don't move your reservation to the new time slot, let you know, and then if it does not suit, you can call and change it. tampadee Posted February 17, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 17, 2016 After not seeing Legally Blonde listed on the website to change the time, I called. I was told there was no availability and to book onboard.
mmbcater Posted February 17, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Called in after I tried to book the show after the cancellation email and a reservationist rebooked ours for the next night. She told me it may be a software glitch. I just checked and my shows booked show on my summary. Look for the number at the bottom of the email and call... chipis Posted February 17, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted February 17, 2016 same thing happened to me, i prebooked and had the same thing happened, they were just moving dates around. you can still see it. several shows during the week Well, they were actually having only 4 shows each (2 nights, with 2 shows each night, for each show) That means that in order for everybody to be able to see it, the theatre must have a capacity of over 1,000 people, assuming that everybody watches each show only once, and that they don't care whether the show they watch is the early or late evening one. In any case, we had planned our meals around the show schedule, and now we have to wait and see what will be happening before moving things around
adrenalinejeeper Posted February 17, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 17, 2016 I just spoke to NCL and asked about Burn the Floor for our cruise on 5/22. The representative had to look it up and seemed to be reading from a notification he had, which said Burn the Floor in May is not performing from the 1st to the 15th, but will be back after that. The fact that he was reading it from something gives me hope that it was some kind of official notification that NCL passed out to their reps. jrsegrl Posted February 18, 2016 #16 Share Posted February 18, 2016 Good to get an official word on the changes but still disappointing. Did the Escape in Dec. and while MDQ was ok once - no interest in seeing it again. Reminded me of a high school production. Was looking forward to seeing Legally Blonde on the Getaway. At least Burn the Floor will still be there. Have seen this several times on the Breakaway and it is amazing.

bphawk64 Posted February 27, 2016 #20 Share Posted February 27, 2016 I also had booked the shows Burn The Floor and Legally Blonde on the May 8th sailing and both were cancelled. I spoke to NCL today and they told me that both shows are indeed cancelled and the are switching shows from the Escape to the Getaway and vice versa. She did not know when they would be available to book for our sailing but I can say I'm a little less than thrilled about NCL doing this with no notice to anyone. I have a latin stepdaughter who is a dancer and was really looking forward to seeing Burn the floor. I will be even less impressed if the rumors are true and they don't start the new shows until the May 15th sailing and our sailing basically goes with one show (The ilusinarium) that costs over $30pp extra. This is our first time trying NCL and they're really impressing us from the start, lol.

The Supper Club, which carries a fee of $24.95 for banquet seating and $29.95 for floor seating, will receive a new show on April 9.
