SuiteCruiser Posted March 7, 2016 #126 Share Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) I could count on 1 finger the number of times service has been 'not quick', and still have 1 finger left over. Could it be a case of you get, what you give? Stephen . I think it depends on where you are waiting. If you are waiting in the casino, or the Haven Bar, there is no wait. If you are waiting at the pool bar, you're there a good 10-15 minutes, and as you know, I'm both friendly and generous. The regular parts of the ship operate differently, and I've waited 15 minutes for service at Tobacco Road, when chatting and just being ignored by the staff. Casino service for me is great, I sometimes have more than one waiter waiting for me to take that last sip so I'll want another drink. It's not the same everywhere. SuiteCruiser Posted March 7, 2016 #127 Share Posted March 7, 2016 I'm confused. So if I go for the UBP, when I get onboard and order a drink, is it "free," or am I racking up 18% of each drink I consume on my shipboard account? Once the package is purchased or accepted as a freebee, you pay 18% on the package price, so you do not pay 18% on each drink.

Burgmeister Posted March 8, 2016 #129 Share Posted March 8, 2016 This was our experience in early 2015, but more recently they have stopped charging Spanish tax on UBP orders on cruises out of Barcelona, whether or not they leave the EU VAT area. We did both types of itineraries on the Epic last November/December and there was no tax on any drinks ordered with the UBP while in or near port. I questioned NCL UK on this via email and this was their response "As you have received The Ultimate Beverage Package as part of a promotion the 18% gratuity charge and VAT is included " I wasn't convinced they were necessarily correct, but your experience seems to have backed this up.
