Transportation from Rotterdam to Southampton

I am interested in finding the best way to travel from Amsterdam or Rotterdam to Southampton. We prefer not to fly. Thanks for any suggestions.

You can catch the train,From Rotterdam to Paris,then Paris to london,Then onto Southampton,Hi speed train all the way to London

The flight form Amsterdam to Southampton is only a short one and a lot Quicker,The train from Rotterdam stops at the airport in Amsterdam :)

By train Rotterdam to London is quicker (4 hours) and cheaper (under £100 if booked ahead by a couple of months or more) via Brussels rather than Paris. Then across central London by taxi or tube (metro) from St Pancras station to Waterloo station for the train to Southampton (about 1.5hrs, £40 or considerably less pre-booked with megatrain)

 

But yes, direct flights from Amsterdam to Southampton.

Out of the box:

 

Walk from cruiseterminal to public transport. Under 3 minutes. Free.

Metro/bus from to Rotterdam Central Station. Under 10 munutes. Some € 2,- for a paper single ticket, very regular service every few minutes from Wilhelmina Plein stop or more by cab but a cab will take longer and cost more.

Train from Rotterdam Central to Hoek van Holland Haven station. 30 minutes. € 5,-

Walk over to Stena Line ferry terminal next to station.

Board the ferry to Harwich.

 

Harwich - London Liverpool Str station by train.

 

Etc. Etc.

A Rotterdam train shortly after at noon will get you in London at ten at night.
