Star Princess current sailing (10/9-10/16) - where are you now??

Good morning from Ocho Rios ...

 

Let's see if I can answer some questions posted:

 

Tim Donovan is the CD - he's very good.

The pool band is called Kruz Control - they're excellent (although I can't recall a steel drum).

 

Grand Cayman tendering started right at noon - you should be able to make a 12:30 excursion, just let them know in advance you need to be in one of the first tenders. We left GC at 7 p.m., and the Caribbean Night party was this night, began at 10 p.m. on aft decks 12, 14, 15 & 16. This was really alot of fun.

 

Normal sailaway parties were at Neptune's Reef & Pool.

Sorry, I have not been to any shows, but I understand they do a Broadway-type production called "Give My Regards".

 

Two things I want to make Star cruisers aware of:

 

1) Beware the Horizon Court at breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. - - it's a zoo, with only one side open and they don't give you any trays to carry a plate and beverage. Yesterday morning I waited almost an hour and a half to eat breakfast because I refused to wait on those long lines .....:mad: Your best bet is to go to one of the sit-down dining rooms for breakfast (but get there by 9 a.m. - that's when they close and the hoard of late risers hightail it to Horizon Court.

 

2) Beware of Terminal #15 in the Internet Cafe - - it's evil -- a glitch on that particular computer is charging customers $25.00 a minute!:eek: This is no typo, folks. Check carefully before you swipe your card to be sure that the rate is $0.35 a minute (you will see it displayed on the left-hand side of the screen). If you should happen to get sucked in, go directly to the Purser's Desk - they are well aware of the problem, but so far have not managed to correct it.

 

Well, that's it, guys. I'll try to give a more detailed review when I'm back home next week. The focus will be a comparison between Princess and Celebrity. Stay tuned.

Thank you for updating us on the Star Princess modified itinerary and the goings on onboard. I just checked my Cruise Personalizer and the 10/23 sailing is doing it's usual run. If you happen to see Tim Donovan, can you ask him if he got an email from Jake on the 10/23 sailing? :) Thanks!

 

I wish you safe travels and I'm eagerly looking forward to my cruise onboard the Star Princess in 10 days.

P.S. I never eat in the buffet's anyway, I take the stuff through the ship and back to the cabin or get room service. I just wish their pizzeria was open 24 hours! I love pizza for breakfast!

Anybody aboard the Star right now - I would like to get the dimensions (length X width) of the matresss on the pull out bed in the minisuites - can anybody help me? I e mailed the hotel mgr. and CC rep but have got no answer.

Yes, we are at Princess Cays today - just tendered back aboard. Great island, excellent BBQ lunch - they really have things set up well. I'd thought about not getting off the ship, but I'm glad I did. Plenty of room, loads of lounge chairs (many in shade), bars run smoothly, good band playing. The ribs were out of this world.Jake: I ran into Tim Donovan last night - he usually stops in at the Wheelhouse around 7pm. He remembers your email. He said to tell you that Princess does not allow crew to reply to customer emails; however, he did receive your request (didn't say what you asked for), and he has forwarded it to the proper authority. Also that I should mention in the future requests should be directed to a Terri Watson .... I'm not positive that's the right name, though - it could have been Hobson ... something like that (I was into my 4th Scotch at the time ... oh well, I hope this helps.I'll sign off for now - disembarkation tomorrow morning, and I need to get in my last licks at the various watering holes aboard (not to mention the final contribution at the casino).

BTW, the new sheets and duvets were being placed on the Star this a.m. Whether the new mattresses will be under those new sheets was not known when we disembarked. Minis on Emerald definitely did not have them on the 10/9 sailing.

 

Hey Roxanne, who made dinner tonight and were you offered 5 choices? Sure miss our Happy Hour at the Wheelhouse Bar. Give me an e-holler.
