P_and_K Posted May 17, 2018 #26 Share Posted May 17, 2018 Piraeus, Greece - Went with Piraeus Express (y) (met them in Katakolon) http://piraeusexpressbus.com/index.html and received great service to a bunch of sights in Athens for €20 (normally €25): Kastella, Panathenaic (Olympic) Stadium, Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian's Arch (photos only, didn't enter), House of Parliament in Syntagma Square & changing of the guards (the tour operator will give you advice on how to get the best video or pictures), Athenian Trilogy (Academy, University and National Library), Acropolis and Parthenon, shopping in Plaka. Tip for Plaka, don't buy at the first shop you see. We walked 2 intersections down, turned left and eventually found a shop selling the same trinkets (bracelets, keychains, etc. with the Mati (Greek Evil Eye)) as the other stores for less than half the price). If you have children or are a prude, beware that there are a lot of sexual themed and phallus objects in public view. http://piraeusexpressbus.com/index.html
fdnycruiser Posted May 17, 2018 #27 Share Posted May 17, 2018 We did a private driver and had the Acropolis to ourselves before the tour buses started rolling in. Next was the changing of the guards by ourselves. Kept missing all the crowds. Our table mates were envious. They left their group from the ship and went back to the boat. I used www.georgetaxiservice.com Sent from my iPhone using Forums We first used Georges taxi in 2013 from a recommendation on this board. Finished up a cruise in Athens last week on the 11th and used Georges Taxi once again. Picked us up at the cruise port, dropped off the bags at the hotel and off on a tour. Takis was our very professional guide and driver, and drove to the airport the next morning. I greatly recommend them.
