NASSAU - Short time (7-3)

We are traveling to Nassau in October. ONLY in port from 7-3. We would love to go to a really nice beach but paying the resort fees for only a few hours of use seems crazy. Is there a really nice beach (other than Junkanoo Beach) that would be easy access and very lovely? Would love to go to Cable Beach, but from what I am reading it is closed to public. Anybody have any suggestions I would love to hear them. Thank you

We like to go to the Melia on Cable Beach for 4 hours. At $35 pp, it is worth it for us as they have nice pools and a good beach and all of the amenities. See the website.

A more convenient place is the British Colonial Hilton, near the pier- but it is not a resort. Nice for adults.

The Melia is more for families.

So true. It is eight hours, but 7-3 make it difficult to spend money on a short beach day. However, after looking at the resort and for $35 pp, perhaps 8 to 1 is NOT. I just have never been to Nassau and I so want to see the beautiful beaches they show on TV! Thanks for taking the time with your suggestion.

We usually take a van taxi ($5 pp) from the pier. Those vans are lined up and wait to fill. We have also taken a regular taxi- with 4 people- can't recall the price. It is about 5 miles to the Melia.

Good to have a map of Nassau. There are some online.

In Freeport, we took a $5 pp van taxi to Our Lucaya which has a big Marketplace with many shops, a casino, and the Grand Lucaya resort.

Cruisers can do a day pass at the resort or just stop in for lunch.

They have a good website.
