1099 for Casino Winnings

Bummer, I thought winning in international waters you wouldn't have to pay taxes.

Why? If a USA citizen, you owe taxes on income "earned" anywhere on Earth (or outside)

Doesn't matter if you only win $1 in your local State lotto.

The U. S. Government considers this as Earned Income and is considered taxable income. 1099 or not.

 

But yes, casino winnings on the cruise ship is considered taxable income if you are a U. S. citizen.

I emailed them to get a win/loss statement from our cruises this year and they sent the information but did not send a 1099. Make sure you verify that you need a 1099 and give them the date of any jackpots.
