Big Chief Posted March 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Celebrity Eclipse 2/21/16-3/6/16 The quality of crew was outstanding; they were generally polite, efficient and pleasant. The condition of the ship was outstanding! Weather was perfect and the sea conditions were ideal. Luggage Valet disembarkation was quick and painless. The Moonlight Sonata food was average. Unfortunately, this will probably be our last Celebrity cruise. Embarkation took over an hour. The SeaPass cards failed to indicate the beverage package which necessitated an immediate wait at Guest Relations; the sink stopper was broken and the drainage channel above our balcony leaked, (not an auspicious start for one’s vacation). The five sea days were chaotic, “chair hogs” ruled the day. Seating at the various bar areas was often unavailable. The entertainment was average and the production shows failed to meet the demographic of the ship. Internet is excessively expensive and excruciatingly slow. (A subjective thought) The ship seemed crowded, probably because so much of the space is poorly used. Luminae ,Michaels Pub, and Blu are restricted; Bistro on Five, ,Gastro Bar, Murano; Quisine, Tuscan Grill , the Gelateria, future cruise desk and the iLounge, are increased revenue locations; the Spa, Casino ,Photo Gallery Cellar Masters , Park-West art gallery/auction , Logo shop, Bvlgari shop and Tobacco/Liquor shop are self explanatory. (Editorial Comment) Celebrity states “…(in a) continued effort to Save the Waves, we are no longer delivering the Guest Questionnaire to staterooms”. On this 14 day cruise we received over 20 pages of “advertising” and inserts, in addition to the daily “Celebrity Today”. In years past the end of cruise questionnaire was the equivalent of a single page (double sided). I guess one more page would have been the “straw that broke the camel’s back”. This is only my opinion and not necessarily the viewpoint of all who have sailed on this cruise (so save the flames and roasting)
Fouremco Posted March 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2016 While many of the individual issues, subjective or otherwise, wouldn't be show stoppers on their own, I can understand your reaction to the cumulative effect. When you are spending big dollars for a two week cruise, you are right to move on if you feel that the product doesn't meet your expectations. We will be back on the Eclipse in just over a week and will have the opportunity to judge whether or not our expectation are met.

blueboro Posted March 9, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2016 We returned from a cruise on Holland America's Eurodam 2 weeks ago. The ship had just returned from a major Drydock and was in great shape and we had a really good cruise. However, we kept comparing everything to our past several cruises on Celebrity S class ships and came to the conclusion that we far preferred the design, food and other things on Celebrity. So, I would stick with what you like.
az_tchr Posted March 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Certainly agree with your comments about the cabin. Am guessing that you booked your cruise through a travel agent and thus the common issue of the drink package not being on your seapass. your long wait was unfortunate and not necessary as they would have removed the charges you made upon showing them your documents. Going to guest relations later would mean a much shorter wait. The Save the Waves comment is 100% correct. The paper wasted is a joke and for those of us who leave the cruise overseas it means we cannot complete the survey very easily.
