are we allowed any carry of Alcohol for in cabin usage i.e ..bottle of gin etc or bottle of wine ???

We took a box of wine last year no problem and you can take any alcohol purchased on land on to the ship on your cruise. Some people take boxes of wine and bottles spirits for cabin use :-) Don't worry about it unless you want to take a barrel of something on and then they may twitch a little :D
