Terrible new about the attacks on the Ivory Coast.

We board the Silver Cloud on Wednesday and are due to visit Abidjan on Friday.

Surely Silversea will drop this port of call?

I expect they will. I dont think they will be taking any chances. Hope you find out something soon.

I too am on this cruise and wonder what and if anything Silverseas will do with the situation there. We were scheduled on a ship tour to the National Costume Museum and craft market. Not so sure I would want to do that.

Very sad and tragic. Good luck for those scheduled on this upcoming sailing. Keep us posted for how things work out. From the Reuters news wire in the past hour, they have this headline: "Ivory Coast soldiers patrol beaches after Qaeda attack kills 18" with these highlights: "Ivory Coast soldiers armed with assault rifles patrolled the deserted beaches of a resort town on Monday, a day after gunmen from al Qaeda's North African branch killed 18 people, the third major al Qaeda attack in West Africa in four months. President Alassane Ouattara declared three days of mourning for the country, which has never before been hit by al Qaeda. Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) said it was responsible for storming the beach hotels in Grand Bassam, a weekend retreat popular with Ivorians and westerners about 40 km (25 miles) east of the commercial capital Abidjan. AQIM, which has spread across the Sahara from Algeria and now operates in much of western and northern Africa, has also claimed responsibility for attacks that killed dozens of people in Burkina Faso and Mali since November. Fifteen civilians and three members of the special forces were killed and 33 people were wounded in Sunday's attack"
