I just booked a hotel for our December cruise out of New Orleans. $70 per night, plus taxes/fees, staying 2 nights. Hilton New Orleans Riverside!

 

Felt a little silly booking so far in advance, but I was afraid I'd I waited, I'd not get a good hotel at a fair price.

Just wait till closer to cruise time and then look at the room price... You will not feel silly then!

We booked our room in October 2015 for our stay this April for 33,000 (less than $100 a night) Hilton points. Currently, the same room is going for 98,000 points (close to $400) a night!

that is a great price and is a really nice hotel. You can go out the back of the hotel into the riverside mall that is attached to it. We walked through the mall on the morning of our cruise right to the carnival dream. It took less than 10 min.

I'd say you did - I decided to check for our October cruise for rates - 200+ per night.
