NOLA and Ideas for AM

Our idea is to stay in Metairie, drive to the port early am, drop our bags at the terminal and then park. We'll have 2 little ones in tow (3 and 4-1/2). We then want to hit the Café Du Monde by the port and maybe see a little of the riverside before getting the Dawn around 11-12. Does this make sense? Is it walkable?

The only real question is how early you can drop off the luggage. Until around 10:00 you would be running into the disembarkation traffic. After that you should be OK.

 

The Cafe du Monde in the Riverwalk is just a short walk from the terminals and parking lots. Same with the riverfront area, and you would even have time for a quick walk through the French Quarter.

Not sure I would want to walk from terminal area to the French Quarter with your 2 little ones, might be a trek for them or for you if you need to carry them. If you want to check out the French Quarter you could take a taxi to the Original Café du Monde walk around the French Quarter and then take a taxi back to the ship

Or they could take a streetcar.

I would just go to the Cafe du Monde in the Riverwalk. You can always walk outside along the river if you get done early so the kids could watch the ships. Of course, you can walk in the mall and shop, too.

 

The other option would be to take the red streetcar line to the stop by th big Cafe du Monde, but there is usually a wait for a table.
