Question about Back-to-Back cruises

Hubby and I are booked on our first back-to-back cruise...we will be on the NCL Jade out of Barcelona, for the 14-night trans-Atlantic crossing on October 30th, which ends up in Tampa, Florida, and then going on her 7-night western Caribbean cruise on Nov. 13th.

 

My question is.....do we HAVE to get off the ship in Tampa between the two cruises? We are supposed to have the same stateroom on both legs.

 

Never having been to Tampa, we may want to disembark anyway, but if we want to stay aboard, is it allowed?

 

If it makes a difference, the ship will call in to the port of Miami on November 11th, two days before winding up in Tampa, so Tampa will not be our first US port.

You will have to clear immigration at some point, so I assume that will be in Tampa.

Either way, you do have to leave the ship between segments, you'll be asked to wait in a lounge and given an 'in transit' sticker you'll go into the immigration hall and wait and then be allowed to reboard for lunch. Not a big deal, but you can't stay on the ship until the all clear is given.

What Sweet-Kraut said. If there are no problems, you are only off for about 30-45 mins AND because you are in the same stateroom, you won't have to do muster again 😃

Based on our NCL Pearl cruise last year, i would say that when you dock in Miami you will have to go through Homeland security interview, at a determined location on the ship, as this will be your first US port.

 

As for Tampa, usually within the USA, the ship must be cleared by Customs. This means that all passengers must disembark. You should be getting a letter in your cabin which will detail the procedure to follow.

 

Based on what I have read on another post, passengers on a B2B will have to gather in the theatre and will be escorted and will go through Customs and will then be brought to a waiting area. Once the ship has been cleared by Customs, B2B cruisers will be allowed to get back on the ship.

You will be able to leave your luggage in the room, but as everyone else has said, you will have to leave the ship and wait for customs to do their thing. NCL will send a letter to your cabin around 3 days before you get to Tampa explaining the process.

I kind of thought we would probably have to disembark for a while, for those reasons.

 

But I DIDN'T know that it would mean we don't have to do the muster drill again. That kind of deserves a "yay!" all its own!!
