Rare kctwinmommy Posted April 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2016 I was curious as to what others have done in Ketchikan on the stop there? We're already booked for excursion on our other stops, so we were keeping this one a little more open. I know the town itself is nice for walking around and such. I know we get in early, and are there for 6 hours. Any suggestions on fun things to do? Oh, we're doing the wilderness safari in Skagway, the glacier helicopter in Juneau, and the Tracy Arm Fjord excursion. So with all of that going on during those days, we don't necessarily need something high adventure! ;)
Langley Cruisers Posted April 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2016 I know this board says "Alaska" but it's not discussed here. I see you have not posted yet on the actual Alaska board. That forum is one of the very best resources on the Internet! You can run a search; Ketchikan is discussed almost daily and there are several Ketchikan threads on the first page right now, as it happens. PNW Traveler Posted April 5, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2016 Ketchikan is an easy town for do-it-yourself sightseeing. You can walk down Creek Street, watch the salmon when they are migrating upstream, stroll up and down the streets past the wooden frame buildings, visit the totem museum (very worthwhile) and, if you like boats, walk past the piers with fishing boats. There are many small restaurants and cafes, shops, galleries and such if you just enjoy the walking around.
