Queen Elizabeth

Recommended Posts

Just seen the Daily Mail article about health problems on Thomson Dream and was suspicious about why three couples from different areas of the country are using the same lawyers. However we had lock down on the Dream this January due to gastric problems luckily we weren't affected but not sure all cases were novovirus but could have been food poisoning as my friend did get some very undercooked chicken and the food in the buffet was often luke warm.

As we all know this is not just Thomson ships but was very surprised to hear from a Cardiff friend who was flying to Hong Kong the following day to join the Queen Elizabeth. (This was last week) Their first night was a stay in a hotel but she received a letter from Cunard to say they had norovirus on the ship and could not join the ship the following morning as the ship was having a deep clean and they would have to amuse themselves until just before sailing time in the evening She was quite shocked about this so I advised her to get Boots anti-viral foamto take with her which was recommended to me on this forum and I've used ever since. She texted me yesterday to say she's ok so far and glad she took the foam with her. Just goes to show you're not safe on any ship unless you follow the hygiene routine

At times (not always obviously) a passenger brings a bug aboard and it quickly spreads. This is sometimes the case early into a cruise but the ship/cruiseline gets the blame for it when in fact it has not been their fault. :)

That firm of lawyers seems to specialise in chasing cruise companies for compensation claims. I think the idea is to scare the company into settling out of court. A similar case recently had a case against I think Thomson Spirit go to court. The ships owners won?

IMO, there are very few dirty ships, but many dirty passengers. They pick up and put down food at the buffet and I have lost count of the number of times I have seen people leave the toilets, (gents obviously,), without washing their hands. We never leave home for a cruise without sanitizer of some description.

the amount of times I have seen people (male) not wash their hands are using the loo.

I read a post on this site a while ago, that it happens a lot with the Women's bathrooms also.

When on the majesty at new year a female passenger lifted bread rolls with her hands from the breakfast buffet after sneezing. I asked her why she didn't use the tongs provided and the answer was I have cruised many times and have never used the tongs. I informed the waiter on duty and he disposed of all the bread rolls, but why do people have to do this when the staff do there best to prevent contamination.

Wonder what happens to all the unused bread rolls left when the waiters clear them in the MDR as they are usually rumaged through to get the one you want by everyone on the table. I think they just go in one of the cupboards on the serving station, so could just be topped up for another table.
