DW and I are considering taking this cruise/land tour on RCI Explorer of the Seas the first week of Sep 2017. Sailing from Seattle to Alaska Inside Passage, Juneau, Skagway, Tracy Arm, Victoria BC then back to Seattle. We then board a train and take a land tour to Jasper. The rest of the tour is on a motor coach to Lake Louise, Banff and final stop Calgary.

Has anyone else done this tour, if so likes/dislikes? and any suggestions for a different cruise line with similar land tour? This will be our first trip to Alaska and may be the last so we are willing to spend the money to make this a lasting and worthwhile trip. I sincerely appreciate your candid feedback.

Hello

I didn't do that land tour but we drove ourselves from Banff-Vancouver for our Alaska Inside Passage cruise. I made a set of videos of each day which can be seen from the ALASKA (Inside Passage)/CANADIAN ROCKIES/VANCOUVER link in my signature below. We always had plenty of company wherever we went in the Rockies so I imagine your land tour will go to most if not all of those same tourist hot-spots. I enjoyed the Rockies every bit as much as the cruise. All the best, Tony

We did this trip following our last cruise to Alaska. The train was staffed by college aged kids who seemed to feel they needed to entertain us on a continuous basis with games and jokes etc. We would rather have been able to enjoy the scenery in peace and quiet. The meals (breakfast and lunch) were served in our seats and were okay. The hotels provided were nice. We did not enjoy the bus trip portion as the bus driver was constantly reminding us he exppected a tip at the end. He was also quite annoyed with those of us that chose not to do the helicopter ride. We figured it was because he got a kick-back from the place for each person that bought a ticket.
