JZ1018 Posted April 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2016 We will be in Cannes for Bastille Day this July 14. Other than the fireworks at night, does anyone know of any other activities that go on this day any where in this region? We don't mind taking the train or bus to get somewhere else. theardlies Posted April 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2016 Bayeux - the war cemetery there should not be missed by anyone in the area. There are also smaller ones in the area but I was lost for words seeing so many graves in Bayeux. There is a War Museum there as well (not been there so can't comment on it). Bayeux is 30 easy kilometres from Caen. You could also see the Bayeux Tapestry on the same trip. In the evening, drink Calvados and watch the fireworks (though they normally don't start 'til late)

In Cannes, and all over, there will be some parades in the morning. Very likely, concerts too in the evening. Look at the tourist office websites for each place and see if there are any special events. IIRC, the jazz festival is on at Juan-les-Pins. Mirage Posted May 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) It is quite a train ride. The Louvre has free admission on Bastille Day. Edited May 3, 2016 by Mirage
