Climbing the tower in Pisa

We are sailing in June with RCCL and booking on to the transfer to Pisa. The tour starts from La Spezia at 9.45 and I would like to prebook my tower tickets when they become available in a few weeks. Assuming the coach takes around an hour each way, can anyone advise if I book them for 11.15 if that sounds about an ok time? Thanks

No, I think that's too early.

First, you can't count on the tour leaving on time.

Second, if you are in a bus it will take more than an hour to get to Pisa from La Spezia because buses cannot travel at the same speed as cars (which is the rate google maps and via michelin use for their estimages).

So, if you don't actually leave La Spezia until 10 AM and it takes more like an hour and a quarter to get there, 11:15 is when you'd be getting off the bus, not when you'd be ready to climb the tower.

When you get there you'll need to exchange your reservation form for an actual ticket, which takes a couple of minutes. You'll also have to check any bags you have because you can't climb with them.

Thank you. I'll book for later

I'll add that we were in Pisa last Feb.

We didn't have to exchange our reservation voucher for "actual" tickets. It says you should but a helpful guy by the tower said we didn't. We just queued and showed the reservation voucher at the door.
