Cheers question at dinnner

If you drink wine at dinner, can you get multiple glasses while eating? Is the staff good about replenishing your glass when empty or does it take some time to get a refill? I know you can get a 25% discount for a bottle of wine with Cheers but why would I buy a bottle of wine for dinner if it's for free with the program? Any insight would be appreciated since I am considering the Cheers program but want to make sure it is worth it especially since my wife likes her wine at dinner.

Thanks!

We would stop at the lobby bar before dinner and get a drink to bring to dinner.

When the drink server came by at dinner, we'd order a glass of wine, and tell her we'd be getting another, and then a Bailey's for our desert coffee. She took care of us, and we tipped her well for the service for the week.

Cheers is not "free". It costs you $50per person each day so $100 for a couple each day of your cruise.

Some folks might want a more expensive bottle of wine than the wine by the glass you are considering.

How many glasses of wine do you drink at dinner?

One bottle is about 4 glasses worth.

I totally agree with the other posts about stopping and getting a glass of wine on your way to dinner! That's the only way to go if you want more than 1 glass! Bar service, in my experience, takes FOREVER in the MDR!!!!

Bar service in the Dining room is very hit or miss. there's been plenty of times we just run to the closest bar during dinner as the servers disappear or they've only got 1 or 2 covering the entire dining room!

We have found that a dollar or so tip the first night helps them to remember to come back frequently the following nights!

On my last cruise on the Pride in April, the table waiters took the drink orders and they were delivered by bar waiters. This process seemed to work better then the old process of waiting for the bar server to show up to take your order halfway through service, and even that sometimes was hit or miss.

I like the idea of getting a drink at the bar and bringing it in and then getting another form the waiter asap. Actually your head waiter will track down the person taking drink orders for you asap if you ask the to.

I agree...bring a glass with you, ask for the bar server as soon as you sit...and tip them, telling them you will need another shortly! After the first night, they came by my table 3 - 4 times each night. It also helps that I smile and laugh with them and my daughter is sweet and friendly too.

On my 2 Carnival cruises I've found drink service to be dreadfully slow in the MDR. So as others have said I've always stopped at the bar before going to the MDR and brought glass of wine in with me.

Agreed. I never get Cheers but always get a Drinks on Us card in the casino, and the same holds. Tipping a dollar in cash for each glass and letting them know you'd like frequent refills will keep them coming back every 15 minutes.

I have the same concern... Did not booked Cheers yet because of that...

I'm also a little disappointed by the "wine by the glass" list...
