KeyOfSea Posted October 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2005 I did a search and everything that came up was what to do once you got there. I just want a step by step instruction with approximate costs please.
pinkrosesdeb Posted October 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2005 We have done both the water taxi and a reg. land taxi. The boat ride was nice but the walk from the pier was rather long and it was REALLY hot the day we were there. The next time we left the ship, walked to the curb and caught a taxi which dropped us at the front door of Atlantis. You have to pay to cross the bride (couple of bucks, I think) and then it is like $3 pp. He also told us since we were going so early (before 9am) to go straight to "the digs" and we should be able to walk right in, which we did, free of any charge! cruz1234 Posted October 18, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2005 We took a taxi, it was 4 per person each way. We did not get charged for the toll $1, I hear some taxis charge people for that too. There is a water taxi..$3 per person, but they wait until they are full and then it is a bit of a walk to the hotel. you can end up sitting there for 1/2 hour waiting for it to fill up. Go for the taxi, faster and cooler if it's a hot day you can bake on that water taxi! We rented a room at Comfort Suites and were able to use all of Atlantis' facilites..it was well worth the price..The kids loved the water slides and all the sea life you get to see. It is huge and we only saw a bit of it. But like I said it was worth the $$.
kitty1 Posted October 18, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2005 We took the water taxi over then walked from there. It's a little bit of a walk once you get to Paradise Island. They really pack them in on the water taxi.
Kwaj girl Posted October 18, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2005 ....When you get off the ship & start walking toward town, there will be several water taxis right there on your left who will offer to take you to Paradise Island (where you'll find Atlantis). It should be only $3-5 USD for the boat ride. When you get off the dock, I think it was just a short walk up the hill to the property. Last time we went (3 or 4 yrs ago), they were charging $25 pp to access the facilities there. Have fun!

TNT Posted October 18, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 18, 2005 The water taxi does drop you off a distance from the hotel and it's not pleasant if it's really hot that day. The price is not that much cheaper and on top of that the driver usually wants a tip for the "tour" he gave you on the way over. It also smells of gasoline and is usually crowded. A land taxi drops you right at the hotel door. We paid $4 pp each way.
Shelli Posted October 19, 2005 #8 Share Posted October 19, 2005 Here's another vote for the land taxi over the water taxi. The water taxi seemed kinda old and rickety to me-- it made me nervous. And the self-appointed "tour guide" onboard (ours was someone other than the driver) passed a hat for tips, making everyone feel obligated to contribute. The land taxi was quicker, more direct, and cheaper, when all was said and done.
loudbmw Posted October 19, 2005 #9 Share Posted October 19, 2005 I have always taken the land taxi, very quick and safe. The water taxi looked way overloaded to me. No U.S. Coast Guard around to make sure everything is safe. Lou
slotaddict Posted October 19, 2005 #10 Share Posted October 19, 2005 We took the water taxi to the Atlantis, the walk was long and it was very hot, we gave up the return ticket and returned to the ship via land taxi.
lktomkies Posted October 19, 2005 #11 Share Posted October 19, 2005 We will be on Nassau next month. There are six of us in our family, and I have booked two rooms at the Comfort Suites (approx. $450) to have access to all of Atlantis. Unfortunately, after I booked the rooms, I found out the ship is only in port from noon til 6 p.m. I am considering cancelling the room reservations. What do you think? How much time could we actually spend at Atlantis, and would it be worth $450? Linda
Nothin' But Sun Posted October 19, 2005 #12 Share Posted October 19, 2005 I also have a question regarding Atlantis. When they drop you off at the door to the hotel, is that where you pay to get in? is it still $25? What is free there? We went a few years ago but I remember just going to the public beach and walking up to the Casino. What else is there?
