Hello, We will be in Bermuda on Sunday July 10 and need transportation to Somerset Village for a 9 am- noon boat rental. Are taxis readily available at the pier or will we need to make arrangements in advance? Also, will we have trouble making it back to the ship in time for a 3 pm departure.

Taxi's are available right at the dockyard as you exit the area when you come off the ship. You should have no problem finding one and don't need to plan this ahead.

Be aware that on a Sunday fares are 25% higher for 1-4 people and 50% higher for 5 or more.

Not sure of the distance from the dockyard to Somerset Village, so don't know how long it will take to get back.

Hopefully someone else here on CC could answer that for you.

It is about 3 miles from the Dockyard. Ten minutes but there likely won't be taxis waiting at Somerset Village when they are done. They can call for a taxi there but it has been posted that there have been problems with taxis not showing up. Might be an even bigger issue on a Sunday.

When we have traveled to Bermuda in the past, and most Caribbean islands we always ask the driver if he can come back for us at a specified time.

We only had one driver tell us he couldn't, but he did arrange with another driver before he left us to do the pick-up.

I guess you could ask and see what they suggest.

Thanks for your help. It is my understanding that the taxi drivers don't like to return wet sandy tourists in their cars. I will try to make arrangements with the person who drops us off and promise to have dry clothes to change into.

Again, thanks for your advice!
