Private train+bus combo Skagway

We've decided on booking a private tour for train + bus for Skagway. We've narrowed it down to Dyea Dave and Chilkoot Charters. I am leaning towards Dyea Dave because I like the idea of getting lunch on our own (vs the BBQ chicken lunch pre-arranged with Chilkoot). However, Chilkoot guarantees you are back to your cruise ship on time or they get you to the next port. I'm can't imagine Dyea Dave can guarantee the train ride back since we purchase the train ticket separately...if there is some mechanical issue with the train, we could be in a sticky situation. Now, I know the chances are slim but it is a consideration.

 

So, wise Alaska cruisers, what are your thoughts on that? I would value your input!

Drat! The 2:45 train is booked and we would have to take the 4:00 train back to Skagway with Dave's tour. Not loving that option, so we might have to go with Chilkoot afterall.
