BIG_Steve Posted May 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2016 Will be taking my smartphone along this time. If I accidently turn the data connection on, will it connect automatically, and run my bill up? Or is like WIfI where it only works if you buy time? On Carnival on a flip phone I sent and received a couple of texts. It was pretty cheap. 10 or 15 cents per text. Is that about what it costs on MSC, or a lot more? Thanks. I would put it on airplane mode and purchase some WiFi time I see a constant flow of people at the reception desk with their smartphone in hand trying to log on, apparently. You see, DIVINA has no IT support and people are directed to the "experts" at reception.
Crzyfrk62 Posted May 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2016 Yes put it on airplane mode. I would check with your carrier also just so they know and you know about charges. I would always stop in places that said free WiFi once off the ship and spend maybe 15 mins quickly reading messages & sending any if I needed to. I also got a small amount of wifi time on the ship. Just remember to log off after you finish using the WiFi aboard the ship. They give you wrtten instructions that aren't that hard to follow. bnorris10 Posted May 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2016 not only put it in airplane mode but turn the data off there is a setting in your phone that will turn your data off so there is no way possible for you to accidentally turn it back on

BIG_Steve Posted May 28, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted May 28, 2016 Just a follow up in case someone searches and finds this in the future. I use Boost Mobile. A month to month plan. I did not pay extra (to Boost) for international, so I couldn't make calls, send a text, or connect via 3 or 4g on the ship or in Nassau and St. Maarten. It worked fine in Puerto Rico. Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted May 29, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 29, 2016 Welcome home, thanks for the update. Curious how you liked the ship, especially the casino :)
BIG_Steve Posted May 29, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted May 29, 2016 The casino is surprisingly small. It has a few table games. Blackjack is $5.00 min. Roulette is $1.00 inside, $5.00 outside. NO CRAPS. There are only a few "reel" slots. There are three game maker machines...video poker/blackjack/and ?. The rest of the machines are those odd video slot machines where you bet 50 pennies and all hell breaks loose if you hit some odd character. You know, you get 15 free spins and you win perhaps 75 cents :( The dealers are great. Even though it's small, it's usually not hard to get a seat at a table. I suppose (?) the European crowd isn't too interested in gambling. The ship was very nice/tasteful. Although it's no Andrea Doria. No garish Neon or anything like that. I'm going to write a review in the next day or two. The ship does get mixed reviews from Americans. I can (to a point) see why. I'll voice my opinion in my review. Welcome home, thanks for the update. Curious how you liked the ship, especially the casino :)
Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted May 29, 2016 #9 Share Posted May 29, 2016 I warned you about no craps thing. Super Odd, huh? I'm looking forward to your review. :)
BIG_Steve Posted May 29, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted May 29, 2016 After you did, I looked on their webpage and it said craps. Oh well. Another gambler who had been on the ship before said there was a craps table on his previous cruise. I suppose if it made money, it would still be there. I warned you about no craps thing. Super Odd, huh? I'm looking forward to your review. :)
