Grand princess new beds

According to the princess website it said that the Grand would have its new beds by Jan 2017. Does that mean they will start replacing the beds before that and the whole ship will have new beds by then? What do you think the likelihood of getting a new bed in August would be? I've been reading about the terrible beds on these boards and I can't imagine enjoying a cruise for 10 days on a bad mattress.... I wonder if I should pack a foam egg crate mattress pad?

Not every bed currently on every ship is bad.

I was on the Grand in January and our stateroom, A722, had a brand new mattress and pillows. It was probably the best bed I have ever slept on, on any cruise ship.

Don't pack an egg crate! You'll never be able to get it small enough to pack to take back off the ship, so you'll end up leaving it and the steward will likely toss it in the trash. What a waste:confused:

Ask your steward for one. Might be a good idea to try the bed before you request the egg crate.

You can get almost anything you need from your steward.

We were on the Pacific Princess and our steward overheard us talking about how cold it is in the main showroom. He brought us a blanket. I had never thought to ask for something like that.

This spring I thought my bed was too had the first night on the Grand so the next morning I asked the steward for a foam pad and she put it on my bed while we were out. After that I slept like a rock.
