pmarklesparkle Posted May 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2016 I've taken a few cruises on Carnival and Royal Caribbean which were all wonderful. I've read a lot of reviews about Norwegian Sky and am unsure it is the right ship for us. We are planning on a July 2016 cruise. I am a 55 female and will be traveling with my sister. We are leaving our spouses behind, but are not looking for any kind of hook up. Does Sky have a Broadway musical on-board? What other kind of entertainment do the offer? We definitely like to gamble... slots, craps, blackjack, and Texas Hold'em. What are the table and slot limits on Sky? Do they have limits for Texas Hold'em or can you go "all in" for the games? I prefer limits so that I don't lose my entire budget in one hand. We are not huge drinkers, although we do enjoy alcoholic beverages. We definitely don't want to go on a "party" cruise where drunk 20 somethings overtake the ship. Food reviews did not seem good at all. This is a concern too. Is Sky a good fit for us? I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Clarea Posted May 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2016 Welcome to Cruise Critic. You may want to post your question on the NCL forum here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=107 I think you would have a larger audience with Sky experience on that forum. Casey30043 Posted May 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2016 My family and I sailed on Sky this time last year, our son's first cruise and our second. It was OK at best. Food wasn't the best. I won't say it was bad but I expected better. I can't speak for the limits in the casino. We play the cheap slots for a little fun. It wasn't a booze cruise when we were on but that was prior to the all inclusive. I can't say much on entertainment. I only saw 2 shows. One was the adult comedy show that was great. The musical act was not my cup of tea so I might not be the best to give a review. I'm sure they have moved on to new entertainment in the last year though. Overall if I was looking for a quick cheap run to the Bahamas I'd book but otherwise I'd look for a little better cruise.
WupperAV Posted May 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2016 I always say they are a cut above RCCL, basically TGI Fridays compared to MCDs. Food is passable but geared toward younger people and teens. Lots of the aboard but they have their own deck.
