Rare Zoey1 Posted May 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2004 We are a family of four traveling on the CP the end of July.(Ft. Lauderdale) I am not sure how far the pier is from the airport. Does anyone know if it is easier and less expensive to take a cab or should we just go with the ship's transfers. Thanks, Wendy

Toto2Kansas Posted May 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Definitely in FLL take the cab, it is much quicker and will cost you about half the price of the transfers for 4. srphnx Posted May 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2004 3 votes for cab, sometimes you wait a long while for the transfer bus to fill up. wolfsnare Posted May 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2004 By all means take a cab!!! I was apprehenensive about not taking the transfer on my 4/10 sailing, but everyone here encouraged me to take a cab. Wow...couldn't have been any easier of faster!!! Didn't even have any trouble getting all the luggage for the 4 of us in the trunk!!!That was amazing I hope it will be so easy in San Juan on 6/27...hope there aren't anymore taxi strikes!!! Rare Hlitner Posted May 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2004 We have never understood why anyone takes ships transfers. They cost more than taxis, generally are waiting to fill-up and get loaded while a taxi is half way to the airport (or pier) and I think taxis are actually more comfortable. As to luggage, you can tip a porter to take the luggage right to your taxi! In Miami,FTL, and San Juan we have always used taxis and find that we are usually checked-in at the airport before we any of the transfer buses even arrive at the airport. cruzfiend Posted May 10, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Another vote for the cab. Sometimes if you get to the airport earlier than everyone else, you could get an earlier flight home. Added bonus!!! Aweigh we go

prarie cruiser Posted May 10, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Have done both the transfer and the cab. I like both, depending upon my flight schedule as to which I choose. With a family of four, certainly I would think the cab to be cheaper. My two big tips for dealing with disembarkation day are to mark your luggage with something really wild so you can easily identify it in a room of several hundred pieces of luggage, and also hire a porter to get your luggage, get you through the final custom check faster, and get a cab for you. Happy cruising!
Helen Posted May 10, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Take the cab! It's cheaper and sooooo much quicker. If you've already paid for transfers through Princess you can get your money back without problem. Have a great cruise
