How far is the Intercontinental Hotel from the airport and the Carnival docks? We are going down 2 days before cruise and we will stay at the Intercontinental both nights precruise and would like to get an idea on cost of taxi from airport and to cruise terminal. Also, can you walk around and see much of the city or are we too far away with this hotel? Thank you for any answer you may have.:)

Can't see Luis Munoz Marin airport on this one but gives you an idea of old SJ and piers. I just did a search for Intercontinental Hotel San Juan and you should check out the home page. It has all kinds of info for you. 4.97 miles from downtown (OSJ) taxi cost $8.00.

 

You might want to pick up Frommers "Caribbean Port of Call" at your local bookstore. SO MUCH INFO. Get 5th edition (latest printing)

We are staying at El Convento in heart of Old San Juan and have been told taxi from airport will run us $20.00.

 

You are not close enough to walk to Old San Juan. That is a tradeoff you there. You will have a beach but will need a taxi to get to the sights of OSJ.
