ronbetty2001 Posted June 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2016 Anybody know if there is anything around the tender drop off location for Ha Long Bay? We are on the Millennium, Oct. 2016 cruise. We have arranged a private junk with others on our cruise through the roll call boards. The junk agent will pick us up at 12:00 noon from the tender location. Was wondering if there is anything of interest by the tender location to see or do. Otherwise we'll stay on board till our pick up time. Thank you in advance, Capt. airy_fairy Posted June 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2016 Just where the Tender docks there is a small town with a market, a few bars and a few shops. We didn't find anything particularly beautiful or interesting but we enjoyed the chance to stretch our legs and watch the world go by from a pavement cafe with a cold coke :)
loeb Posted June 26, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2016 Not sure about Celebrity, but we were on a HAL cruise and there is a market not far from where the tender drops you off. It was on the left hand side of the dock area about a mile or more along the coast. There were a lot of shops / vendors selling fake goods and local fish and produce. It was interesting to see. When we were there a number of the crew were buying fake backpacks and I watched them bargain.
coldweathergirl Posted June 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 27, 2016 On our first day after our excursion we went to the hotel beside the dock and asked to use their free wifi. We also asked if they sold beer and the bellman ran off and bought some for us. There was a little outdoor type restaurant that we went to on the second day and had a couple of beer and used their free wifi. We also ordered spring rolls. Very inexpensive and tasty but no idea what was in them. We didn't speak vietnamese and they didn't speak English  Keep an eye open for the rats running around at the pier.
