satxdiver Posted July 1, 2016 #26 Share Posted July 1, 2016 If you decide to do the birth certificate option and the name on your DL and B/C do not match exactly (e.g. marriage, adoption etc), then you must have legal documentation as to the name change (marriage license, adoption papers, court decrees etc). In most (all?) states the official B/C have an ink stamp on them. The raised seal stamp has been replaced years ago. The point here is that a photocopy is not acceptable. So your choice is to carry your DL, B/C and perhaps legal documentation for name change or you carry a passport. Which is easier?
partybarbie Posted July 1, 2016 #27 Share Posted July 1, 2016 I've convinced my travel companion to get a passport. :D Thanks everyone for all your input. Just an FYI for you, I just renewed my passport and the turnaround time was only two weeks. You can get the pictures taken for only $5.00, if you have a Costco membership.
