Unobstructed Balcony Views

What deck are the lifeboats on? How many decks above the lifeboats do you need to be to have a balcony with an unobstructed view?

 

I'm going to be booking soon and want an unobstructed view.

The Epic. Goodness how embarrassing!

The lifeboats are on deck 7. There are some deck 8 balconies that are far enough forward or aft that they are clear of the lifeboats. We had a minisuite on deck 8 right at the end of the last lifeboat and we actually didn't mind the obstruction at all -- we thought that we would hate it, but we would pick our room again in a heartbeat!

 

Higher decks will experience less obstruction and aft balconies will be completely unobstructed.

Unobstructed generally means there isn't anything in front of a window or balcony. It doesn't typically mean you have a 100% flush view straight down to the water. In other words, if you are able to freely see a lifeboat a couple decks below, then the view is unobstructed.

We have cabin 8100 booked for our cruise on the Epic in February. Does anybody know how obstructed the view is from that balcony?

If you look at the deck plans, you can count cabins to see where yours is, then compare to photos of the ship. That's what most of us do when looking to see if a cabin view is obstructed. (I mean, in case no one has stayed in that cabin that can respond for certain!)

The view is not obstructed straight out from deck 8, but you can clearly see the lifeboats. Here are a few shots, so you see what I mean:

Thank you for giving me some idea of what our view will be.

I'm thinking we will try to move up a couple of decks if that is possible.
