Hornet441 Posted September 7, 2016 #101 Share Posted September 7, 2016 We always try to get FTTF and it has always paid off. Starting to read lots about embarkation in San Juan and its sounding like we may not need it here. Any thoughts?
TravelingAPor Posted September 7, 2016 #102 Share Posted September 7, 2016 There is no need to spend extra money on FTTF for San Juan PR embarkation. We came straight to the port early and was surprised, that we were able to walk right in and get it done so quickly.

Any thoughts? no need to pay for FTTF when you have all day to embark the ship, take the extra time to enjoy SAN JUAN you are on Vacation
idil Posted September 7, 2016 #104 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Glad to hear you research before commitment, what i have been doing my last too cruises is booking my excursions thru Carnival then going online to see if any outside Co. have the exact same excursion at a lower price, then you fill out THE BEST PRICE GUARANTEE FORM OFFER THRU CARNIVAL. they will give you a OBC for the difference. For my cruise to Hawaii i received $62 OBC and this August for my ALASKA cruise i received $80 OBC. So i working on my excursions for my Southern cruise out of SAN JUAN, so far i have found a $29 difference in one excursion i like this Carnival offer Who knew!!! Great tip ... thank you! For sure for our next cruise we'll do our "research" too ;) Although as I mentioned before (and also in my report) we did our own things at every port except St. Kitts ... SouthCaribbean2017 Posted September 9, 2016 #107 Share Posted September 9, 2016 10 PM However you need to be on board by 9 PM. Thank you for your quick response - and just so I was clear as I perused the previous pages...boarding is between 2-8pm? So you have most of the day to get to PR... TravelingAPor Posted September 9, 2016 #108 Share Posted September 9, 2016 ".boarding is between 2-8pm?" I never thought of it that way, but I guess so. Not positive. We all just wanted to get on the ship eat, and go back out. I'm just wondering, if the embarkation people will stay that late.?...

I'm just trying to determine the best times to book a flight...it's a 5-hr flight to PR from my location...and if I can depart anywhere from 11am-1pm, that's better than earlier for me... TravelingAPor Posted September 22, 2016 #113 Share Posted September 22, 2016 Don't know about the bars but the food, at the buffet was ready. Our room was also ready. This was befor noon. Embarkation was the earliest & quickest, on this cruise. :)
cam917 Posted September 26, 2016 #114 Share Posted September 26, 2016 we are sailing on 10/30 out of San Juan. Have sailed Carnival 15 times, Fascination back in 2006. Reading all the reviews are making me very nervous - overall, how was your experience? did you find the ship outdated and drab? We are traveling with friends - they have cruised once before RCL. As we have cruised many times they trusted us to select - this one I chose because of the itinerary. Thank you -
TravelingAPor Posted September 26, 2016 #115 Share Posted September 26, 2016 "we are sailing on 10/30 out of San Juan. Have sailed Carnival 15 times, Fascination back in 2006. Reading all the reviews are making me very nervous - overall, how was your experience? did you find the ship outdated and drab? " I've been on CLL, RCL & NCL & of course, Carnival. I was on the NCL Breakaway and it was new & huge, however, the Fascination was not that terrible. I had less places to eat for free but that didn't bother me. I had any-time dining and I ate early, therefore no waiting time. The servers were all wonderful. The food was just average but we did get surf & turf, on elegant night. That was delicious. Dessert was baked alaska. Yummy. The one sea day passed quickly. The young people used the water-park and enjoyed it. I went to the Spa for a lecture. The young people also hung out in the Library. The shows were not bad, either. :) The shops were not the greatest and saved me some money. lol The islands & excursions were awesome. In St Lucia, I did Cocosl Tours with my family, of 10. We spent the day with them and we even received brunch, drinks & a snack, from them. I went ziplining with a ship excursion. Expensive but a once in a life time experience. Stop worrying, you made a wonderful choice by choosing Fascination! Everyone will love it. The ship is not drab because they just refurbed it. Maybe a little outdated, compared to the NCL Breakaway.
