Group Activity Ideas On Board

Recommended Posts

I am bringing a group of 80 - 100 people on board Liberty next April. It is all people who have fibromyalgia and/or MS and their friends and family. Many of them will be in scooters or wheelchairs. I am looking for ideas for fun activities to coordinate, or book on board. For example; Scavenger Hunt, Karaoke Hour, Wine Tasting, Cooking Classes, etc.

What activities have you seen or done on board that you might recommend for a group of people? Note: it does not have to accommodate ALL of our people at one time.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

Julie

What I would do if I were you would to be contacting the cruise director.. They have seen and helped with a lot of different groups..

They can guide you in the right direction as to who to contact while on board..

As for different activities while on board..

For the older ones have a slot pull.. Get with the casino manager to see if he / she will donate small prizes for your group.

See if you can get your own BINGO group together.. Again the cruise director should be able to point you in the right direction..

Did you already book the cruise ?

They would have assigned a Group Coordinator to you.

You can ask this person what group activities are available since they handle this all the time.

There may also be group shore excursions.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I really appreciate it. The cruise is already booked. I have contacted my sale rep, and will be in touch with the group coordinator on the ship. I was just looking to see if anyone had any additional or creative ideas for fun things to do with a group that I may not have otherwise thought of, or considered. So far we have the following:

  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Karaoke Hour
  • Board Game Hour
  • Trivia Contest
  • Cupcake Making Class
  • Cooking Class
  • Wine Tasting
  • Mixology Class
  • Private Movie Screening

I'm not really sure what other suggestions to give besides attending the activities that are already planned, or as people said, see if the cruise director can put additional classes in place for your group only.

You've mentioned a scavenger hunt a couple time and that stood out to me because you also said many of your 80-100 guests would be in wheelchairs. I would not do a scavenger hunt for a large group in wheelchairs simply because that will be hard for them, and annoying for the passengers who have to dodge a huge group of wheelchairs all racing to the same location.

I'm sure these folks would like some "down time", too...after all, a vacation is supposed to be relaxing!

I sure would like some "down time" too! lol I have the same illness they do, do all of the educational sessions on board, and do all of the planning/organizing. Not everyone will participate in everything. Feedback after the last cruise was that they would have liked more opportunities to gather for fun activities, so that's what I hope to give them.
