On waitlist for preferred dinner time- what are our chances of getting it?

We booked 10.5 months in advance for our November cruise. We wanted the earlier dinner, but are in the 8pm dinner group. We are wait-listed for the earlier dinner. It's a bummer. Will this possibly change once the due date for full payment comes at the end of August?

When did you ask to be placed on the wait list? We've been waitlisted for early seating 6 of our cruises and it's come through for 5 of them. Anywhere from almost immediately as we requested it to about 2 weeks out from the cruise. The wait list could clear at anytime.

Since you have 4 months until your cruise, I'm thinking that you have a good chance it'll come through.

Suggestions: give DCL a call every once in a while to "confirm" that your still on the wait list (remember the squeaky wheel?). If it still hasn't come through by the time you actually board, go to where the dining changes are being handled onboard (it'll be noted in the Navigator you get in the terminal where/when this is) and make the request again.

Most times these steps will get you changed. Sometimes not.

Our TA put us on the wait list when booking us. Fingers crossed! I could probably still call DCL on my own, right?

Technically, your TA would make the call. But, sometimes, the CMs answering the phone will check for you if you call direct.

If they say no.... you have a second chance for a waitlist when you step on board.

Go straight to where they make dining changes and ask to be wait listed there. Don't delay... put your request in before going to lunch or to your room.

The chance of you being moved depends in part on the size of your group. But overall, yes, you have a very good chance of moving.

I recommend calling DCL at least monthly till the last month, then weekly. It only takes one agent to decide to be nice to you.....

As above, if you don't get it in advance, go to "dining changes" on board and request the change. Again, most of the time they can do it for you. Now if you are a group of 16.....that's a different story after boarding.
