Thaxted Posted August 21, 2016 #26 Share Posted August 21, 2016 We were on QM2's July 6th August 1st sailings. Logging on is more cumbersome than it used to be; you're now asked for your key card number and your birth date every time you log on. We thought the internet connection was very sluggish, especially on the August 1st crossing, and like some other people we talked to, at times we found it difficult to log off the system. On the other hand, one of the pleasures of a crossing is being away from the everyday world, including the deluge of email that we usually receive. So despite our occasional grumbling about the internet, we weren't terribly inconvenienced.
emileg Posted August 21, 2016 Author #27 Share Posted August 21, 2016 We also found it difficult to log off at times. The trick is to make sure you log on and stay in a location where you have two or three bars of connection quality. If it is down to one bar or less, you may have to walk to another area with better connections to log out. The Royal Court is basically dead for internet service. p010ne Posted August 21, 2016 #28 Share Posted August 21, 2016 :p I talked with the INTERNET helper on QM2 and he said that soon others in the Carnival group, like Cunard, will soon have a free intranet service like http://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/onboard-experience/activities/princess-at-sea/ ! That could be very useful to keep track of onboard account, etc.:D
