parasailor Posted August 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2016 Hi. My wife and I would like to go to the jungle to swim in a cave. What is the best way to get there from the Dockyard and upon arrival how do you find the best caves for swimming and exploring? Also, is it difficult to get back to the Dockyard? thanks! SailBadtheSinner Posted August 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2016 What cruise ship wil you be on when you visit Bermuda? To get to TMJ, you could take the ferry to Hamilton and then a bus or taxi to TMJ. This is a short ferry ride (20 minutes) and a longer bus or taxi ride (35 minutes by bus; less by taxi). Or you could take the ferry to St George and then a bus or taxi to TMJ. This is a long ferry ride (45 minutes) and shorter bus or taxi ride (15 minutes by bus; less by taxi). Here are the ferry schedules: To get back to the Dockyard, just retrace your steps but if you return to SG, be sure you'll be able to make a departing ferry. The only advice I have for TMJ is follow the paths SBtS

Pjt212301 Posted August 13, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2016 We're planning on visiting TMJ, afterwards, we wanted to head to the Swizzle Inn-does anyone know far it is from there?
SailBadtheSinner Posted August 14, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2016 We're planning on visiting TMJ, afterwards, we wanted to head to the Swizzle Inn-does anyone know far it is from there? There are 2 entrances/exits from TMJ. One entrance/exit is off of Harrington Sound Rd which would bring you into TMJ by Tom Moore's Tavern. The distance from TMT to the Swizzle Inn is about .8 mile. The other entrance/exit is on Blue Hole Hill Rd just before the southwestern end of The Causeway. This entrance/exit is about .3 mile from SI. If you were to enter by TMT, and follow the paths north, always keeping the harbor on your right hand, you would eventually find the entrance/exit that is on Blue Hole Hill Rd. SBtS Perfect, thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I think we'll enter by TMT and follow the path north so we don't miss anything. I'm guessing by following this route we could find the swimming cave and to swim in the blue hole? Edited August 14, 2016 by Pjt212301

I don't know where you'll be coming from before you stop at TMJ or mode of transportation, but bus routes #1 & #3 go by both entrances. Coming from the south the bus will be on Harrington Sound Rd > Wilkinson Ave > Blue Hole Hill Rd onto The Causeway then to St George and does the reverse on the way back. Bus routes #10 & #11 only go by the entrance on Blue Hole Hill Rd then onto The Causeway to St George and does the reverse on the way back. Bus routes #10 & #11 only do the top blue line on the map. If you are using a taxi, ignore this. The only advice I can offer for TMJ is to find a tour guide for it. SBtS
mcbutter Posted August 15, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 15, 2016 The cave you can swim in is inland and very hard to find. We happened to see a lady walking her dog and asked her. She told us it was hard to find and offered to escort us, and we accepted. There are tours of TMJ that will guide you. (I don't know who or how much.) There is another cave by the ocean, almost parallel to the Blue Hole. It's too small to actually swim in, but it's nice to see.
Monstica Posted August 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 17, 2016 I am planning on doing this too. Take a look on Trip Advisor and go through the reviews for Tom Moores Jungle and Blue Hole Park. You will find quite a few reviews with details on how to find the swimming hole and Walsingham Cave. The last review on Blue Hole Park has a ton of information. Go through each review and you will get a feel for where each attraction is. We plan on taking the ferry and bus to Tom Moores Tavern and exiting at the Swizzle Inn. There is suppose to be a great Ice Cream Store at that exit called Bailey's. You can take a guided tour through Hidden Gems which got excellent reviews. I am having my son do the research on this for Boy Scouts so we plan on doing it on our own. I am not sailing till October 9th. Not sure when you are going. BIC is diagonally across the road (Blue Hole Hill) from SI. SBtS Edited August 17, 2016 by SailBadtheSinner speling
